Obituary

Anna Yung (née Jiang), 57, passed away on the morning of March 12th, 2021 in Brooklyn, NY after battling cancer. She was born in Guangzhou, China in 1963 and married the love of her life, Jeong (Joe) in 1987. That same year, she moved to the United States where they would raise a family with two loving daughters, Iris and Tiffany, in Brooklyn. Anna is survived by Joe, Iris, Tiffany, her mother Min Yi, father Jin Huang, and brother Jin Ming.

The art community sadly lost a passionate, dedicated creator and educator. Anna was a talented artist and art teacher beloved by her many students who knew her as “Miss Anna.” She studied at the National Academy of Fine Art and the Art Students League of New York, and was the recipient of several national and international awards for her unique styles of artwork. For over a decade, Miss Anna introduced her students to the world of art and brightened up the lives of many children including those with special needs.
She loved her students like they were her own children, treated them with kindness and compassion, and helped them get into art programs at top universities and high schools. She had magnificent creative abilities and excelled at accentuating colors in her paintings, but she also brought color to the lives of her many students, family, and friends.

Outside of work, Anna was a natural at cooking and made the best soups. She loved to try new food, travel with her daughters to different countries, and take many photos to capture memories of her favorite experiences. You too can share your favorite moments and stories to celebrate Anna’s life on this page.

Anna’s legacy will live on in the hearts of the talented children she has impacted and her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to be sent in her memory to the Chinese-American Planning Council at www.cpc-nyc.org.
